COMPUTER SCIENCE COURSE OPTIONS
Starting in the Fall of 2023, the Innovation Center will be offering a Computer Science pathway. Each of these courses utilizes an online platform (Code.org or CodeHS), and will be asynchronous (students will work at their own pace.) Students will have the ability to work on these course options while simultaneously enrolled in Robotics or Computer Aided Drafting & Design, or they can progress through each course in a Computer Science pathway only. See the collapsable icons below for more information on each course.
Computer Science Discoveries takes a wide lens on computer science by covering topics such as programming, physical computing, HTML/CSS, and data. The course inspires students as they build their own websites, apps, games, and physical computing devices.
This course will enable students to develop computational skills while building confidence that prepares them to advance to AP Computer Science Principles and AP Computer Science A.
An introductory course that introduces students to the breadth of the field of computer science. Students learn to design and evaluate solutions and to apply computer science to solve problems through the development of algorithms and programs. They incorporate abstraction into programs and use data to discover new knowledge. Students also explain how computing innovations and computing systems – including the internet – work, explore their potential impacts, and contribute to a computing culture that is collaborative and ethical.
An introductory college-level computer science course. Students cultivate their understanding of coding through analyzing, writing and testing code as they explore concepts like modularity, variables, and control structures.
