GFM-P0 - Bus Driver - Job Description
SECTION G: Personnel
Immediate Supervisor: Transportation Supervisor
Personal Suitability/Qualifications (see also EOG)
Must possess a valid Manitoba Class Licence for the class of vehicle being operated; and also a School Bus Operator certificate;
Must possess communication and human relations skills;
Must pass a prescribed physical examination administered by a licensed Physician approved or appointed by the Board, and reported on forms provided for this purpose;
Must pass the appropriate tests administered by the Motor Vehicle Branch;
Must provide the Division with a current abstract of his/her driving record.
Duties and Responsibilities: ( see also EOH, EOI, EOJ)
Operate the school bus in a safe manner over such routes and on the days and times prescribed by an approved schedule;
Report any mechanical or other defects on the bus immediately to the Head Mechanic/Shop Foreman;
Keep the bus in a clean and sanitary condition at all times;
Inform the Transportation Supervisor of any passenger load or other factors that may necessitate changes in the route or schedule;
Assist in planning routes before the start of the new school year;
Report any discipline problems with students on his/her bus immediately to the School Principal of the student concerned and to the Transportation Supervisor;
Prepare such reports, attendance records, route maps, route manifests, or other documents as may be required;
Attend safety seminars or safe driving courses when these are scheduled;
Comply with all Highway Traffic Act and school bus regulations and with other authorized School Division regulations; and,
Carry out such other related duties as may be assigned.
