GFH-P0 - Maintenance Foreman - Job Description
SECTION G: Personnel
Immediate Supervisor: Maintenance Supervisor
Minimum Qualifications and Skills
Must be self-motivated and be able to work on his/her own whenever required;
Shall be an experienced tradesman with knowledge and skills in other applicable trades;
Must be able to set schedules, make repairs, and do maintenance work in the facilities of the Division;
Must have a valid Manitoba class 5 Driver's License.
Responsibilities and Duties
Carpentry
Ability to do carpentry repair (new installations, repair, and remodelling) on a finished basis, which may include:
Capable of doing minor roof repairs (scheduled to availability of specialized equipment);
Window and door replacement including walls if necessary;
Floor coverings;
Concrete work - forms etc.;
Cabinet and shelving - furnishings work - designing; and,
Painting and drywall.
Electrical
All electrical work performed is to be subject to Hydro approval. Electrical repair and replacement and maintenance, including:
Capable of extending circuits if required;
Ballast replacement;
Switch and plug in, motor replacement; and,
General preventative maintenance.
Plumbing
Repair, replacement, and maintenance, including:
Repairing taps and drains; and,
Replacing fixtures including hot water tanks etc. (except electrical hook ups).
General
The individual should have knowledge of all aspects of the building trade:
Be responsible for ordering materials related to the above trade;
Assist in project appraisals costs;
Carry on with preventative maintenance schedule;
Assume supervisory responsibilities;
Supervise summer paint crews - however this should not interfere significantly with the regular work schedule;
Have a good working relationship with all Custodians; and,
Be willing to accept other duties pertaining to the maintenance of schools, grounds, and playground structures, or to the individual’s specific trade, as assigned.
The Maintenance Foreman is to use a work order system in order to keep track of maintenance duties performed, and maintain a filing system on these projects.
