DR-P0 - Graduate Merit Awards
Section D: Fiscal Management
The Prairie Spirit School Division will make an annual award of $500 for every 15 graduates in every high school, including Cartwright Community Independent School, as follows:
1 – 15 graduates – 1 award
16 – 30 graduates – 2 awards
31 – 45 graduates – 3 awards
The school’s awards committee will select the recipient(s), using the following criteria:
Completion of course requirements for graduation;
Demonstration of consistent effort in scholastic achievement throughout his/her high school years;
Participation in extra-curricular activities such as sports, drama, school newspaper;
Demonstration of qualities of leadership and service to others through participation in activities such as student council, yearbook, canteen; and,
Demonstration of good citizenship qualities such as courtesy, respect, and consideration for others.
For the purposes of this policy, Hutterian Colony schools will be considered as one school. The Superintendent’s Department, in consultation with school staff, will select the recipient(s).
The award will be presented annually at each school’s graduation ceremony by a representative of the Prairie Spirit School Division.
