Mission Statement 

The Cat Chronicles is a dynamic and engaging educational project that provides students with a hands-on learning experience while following a district-approved journalism curriculum. This newspaper is entirely produced, managed, and edited by students, allowing them to explore the exciting world of journalism in a real-world context.  This is paired with students who join The Cat Chronicles journalism club after school to gain some of the same skills and writing experience. 


Under the guidance of a teacher-advisor, students in this class develop essential skills such as researching, writing, editing, layout design, photography, and even marketing. They follow a comprehensive curriculum designed to teach them the principles of ethical journalism, fact-checking, and responsible reporting that spans the entire school year.


The newspaper covers many topics that are student-selected, including school events, local news, student features, sports, arts, and more. By actively participating in the production process, students not only gain a deep understanding of journalism but also develop critical thinking, teamwork, and time management skills.


The Cat Chronicles is a fantastic learning opportunity for students to apply classroom knowledge to real-world scenarios, fostering a passion for journalism and honing skills that will serve them well in their academic and professional journeys. It is an integral part of the educational experience, promoting creativity, critical thinking, and a sense of responsibility among the student body.
