What is Flight School?
Flight School is a high-quality preschool program for pre-kindergarten children ages 3 and up. It's designed to provide a strong foundation for children's learning and development. Our curriculum is play based and incorporates social-emotional learning, singing, art, science, and nature.
Caregivers attend with their child. Classes are 1.5 hours long and meet twice a week. AM and PM options are available. Classes are small, limited to 8 children per class. This allows for us to tailor each class to our students' needs.
Warm up activities that involve sensory play, letter and number games, or colors, shapes, and patterns.
Rug time where we learn songs, talk about bugs, the weather, or our feelings, have dance parties, stories, and picnics.
Daily arts & crafts that tie into our learning where students practice skills like following directions or finding ways to make something uniquely their own.
Time for self-directed book exploration. Even though they're not reading yet, they're still developing a love for books!
Hands on science! On this winter day, we got to feel different states of water, sang about the water cycle, and watched videos of snowflakes forming.
Learning through imagination! We may pretend to be astronauts or pollinators or pirates.
Frequent nature walk scavenger hunts. We get to make connections to the natural world with our texture vocabulary and the things we've been learning about seasons and weather. It's also a way to talk about and practice safety with roads, toads, and mushrooms.
Every year we participate in raising a Painted Lady Butterfly, a species native to Utah. We get to watch it grow as a caterpillar, learn about chrysalis, and release our butterfly when it's ready!
Miss Emma loves learning new things about the world all around us. She loves music, bugs, plants, and is an all around silly nerd. She believes classrooms should be a place for the whole child. Children should feel loved and be able to learn in ways that are natural to them: through play, movement, music, art, stories, and hands-on activities.
Miss Katie loves helping kids learn and grow through conversations and play. She finds joy when interacting with children and seeing how things fascinate and expand their minds. She enjoys walking while listening to awesome audiobooks, loves her kids and grandkids and will do anything to help her family. She also loves creating fun projects and crafts to share with others. Oh, and she LOVES all things related to the show Friends!
