On Thanksgiving eve, November 24, 1971, a man used the name "Dan Cooper" and paid cash for a one-way airline ticket from Portland, Oregon to Seattle, Washington. Once on board, the un-known man was able to hijack the plane by saying he had a bomb. He made several demands in which one was for $200,000. All his demands were met and he was able to escape by jumping from the plane. The man was never caught and very few evidence was ever found, but over the years there have been many suspects and theories about who Dan Cooper might be.
You and your group will be assigned one of the main suspects identified in this case. You will need to learn as much as you can about the person of interest and evidence surrounding your man. Your team will need to use your knowledge of persuasive language and rhetorical techniques to build a solid case against or for your suspect. Once you have built a strong case, you will present your findings to the court (your classmates) and they will decide if your argument was persuasive and believable.
