Prosper ISD is committed to safeguarding student data and ensuring the privacy and security of all digital resources used throughout the district. We employ a rigorous vetting process for software utilized within our schools and on the district's network.
Staff can find a comprehensive list of all digital resources approved for use in Prosper ISD on LearnPlatform (in the Portal). This platform reflects our dedication to maintaining the highest standards of data protection for our students.
Prosper ISD rigorously vets all software to ensure the privacy and security of student data, aligning with federal and state student privacy laws.
Our vetting process primarily focuses on whether a tool collects Personally Identifiable Information (PII). If PII is involved, the software vendor is asked to sign a Data Privacy Agreement (DPA). To streamline and standardize this process, Prosper ISD partners with the Student Data Privacy Consortium (SDPC). This partnership allows us to utilize a standardized DPA, ensuring consistency and efficiency across all vendor agreements.
What is the approval process for tools not currently listed as an approved resource?
The software approval process will open for staff to submit requests during the second nine weeks of the 25-26 school year.
We have created this process to help ensure that digital tools (whether by purchase, grant, or donation) align with district curriculum, work with our existing technology systems, protect data privacy, and are appropriate for the intended audience. Unfortunately, software purchased or acquired without this approval can't be installed or supported by District Technology.
How does a staff member know if a resource is likely to get approval?
Prosper ISD is partnering with 1EdTech to enhance the transparency and consistency of our digital resource vetting process. By leveraging 1EdTech's standardized rubrics, we aim to ensure a more rigorous and uniform evaluation of all educational technology tools, ultimately bolstering data privacy and security for our students.
