About Mrs. Flanagan

Hi there Christie Families! My name is Mrs. Emma Flanagan, and I am your Dan Christie Elementary STEAM teacher. This is my seventh year teaching, and my second year as a dedicated STEAM teacher, but the fields of STEAM have always been my passion. I did a full year of mechanical engineering courses in college before deciding that my true joy was in sharing my passion with our youth. I have taught grade levels ranging from 1st to 5th grade, and I have coached several elementary robotics teams in the past. I believe that ALL students have the potential and ability to be the next great inventors, scientists, mathematicians, engineers, artists, and critical thinkers. I look forward to sharing the many joys of STEAM with our students this year!

Christie Nation!! It's so nice to meet you! I am Ms. Samantha Hernandez and I'm one of your Art Teachers! This is my second year as a teacher but some of our kiddos have known me as their Substitute/Art-Teacher-in-training since 2020! I'm super excited to be teaching our 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders this year!

I graduated from Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) with a BFA in Sequential Arts and a Minor in Storyboarding. I absolutely adore stories and the process of storytelling. For the past 14 years I have been a part of the art industry. Working with writers, programmers, musicians, and animators. Now, I'm starting a new side quest with all of you!!

The proud faces I see in our classroom are what motivate me to make Art the most fun it can be. Every artist has a story to tell and we are here to help develop those skills, those voices, and build that confidence.

I truly believe art is for all and that everyone has that creative spark within ✨

I am both left-handed and dyslexic. Meaning I probably write, read, and think differently you do!
I love a good mystery, thanks to Nancy Drew and Encyclopedia Brown.
I love animals so much, I originally wanted to become either a vet or a wildlife biologist.

About Mrs. M

Hello, Christie Nation!

My name is Mrs. M, and I’m thrilled to be a part of the Christie Elementary family! This is my 17th year teaching art. I’ve spent 13 years teaching elementary art and 4 years at the high school level, where I taught Art 1, Art 2, AP Art History, and Fashion Design. Additionally, I worked as an art instructor for the Oklahoma City Museum of Art, the Philharmonic, and Oklahoma Contemporary for 5 years. During that time, I taught a wide range of classes for students of all ages, from toddlers to adults. I also facilitated several family art programs in Oklahoma City.

I truly believe that everyone is a natural artist! The trick in finding what you love, and having fun while you create it! It is a joy and honor to be able to help so many amazing artists realize their capabilities in the art room!

My husband, Ryan, is also an artist, and together we have three amazing kids, who are without a doubt our greatest masterpieces.

About Mrs. Gardner

Hello Dan Christie families!

I'm Mrs. Gardner, and I am thrilled to be your child's elementary music teacher. For the past five years, I've had the joy of teaching students to love music as much as I do. My approach is rooted in the Kodály method, and I love using my skills on the piano and ukulele to make our classroom a fun and engaging place to learn.

Outside of school, I'm a proud parent to three wonderful children, with one at Richland High school #RichlandBandMom, one at Moseley Middle School and one at Dan Christie. Mom life is crazy! We also have two adorable Boston Terriers who love snuggles and ice cubes!

I have a husband, Daniel, and daughter, Emma, who I could not be more blessed to share life with.
I am a thrill seeker! ✨Nothing beats a good rollercoaster or whitewater rafting. I have been skydiving and cannot wait to do it again!
I think that it would be impossible to choose between the ocean and the mountains. I love them both!
Nothing makes me happier than spending time with family and friends. 🩷

About Coach Bennett

Hi Dan Christie Families! My name is Coach Lacy Bennett, and I am one of your Dan Christie Elementary PE teachers. This is my 14th year teaching, and my fourth year as a PE coach. Before the gym I was a 2nd grade classroom teacher. I absolutely adored my time in the classroom, but being in the gym has been the absolute best and most fun part of my career so far! I believe that daily exercise, learning sportsmanship, how to be a part of a team, and fundamental basic movements are some of the key tools to living a successful and healthy life. This year is truly off to a great start, and there is no other place I would rather be!

Hello DCE Families!

My name is Coach Randy Jones. I haver been in education for 23 years. I am starting my 9th year in elementary PE and am excited to teach your children engaging and fun PE activities and games. My favorite game to teach is Hula Hut Throwdown! Be sure and check our website updates to see your kids in action.

I am married to my wonderful wife Angela of 26yrs and have 3 boys 1 senior and twins in the 6th grade. They keep us very busy and blessed!

My main hobbies is fishing and I enjoy being in the outdoors when possible. We are going to have a great year here at DCE and look forward to seeing your kiddos!
