Hi there Christie Families! My name is Mrs. Emma Flanagan, and I am your Dan Christie Elementary STEAM teacher. This is my sixth year teaching, and my first year as a dedicated STEAM teacher, but the fields of STEAM have always been my passion. I did a full year of mechanical engineering courses in college before deciding that my true joy was in sharing my passion with our youth. I have taught grade levels ranging from 1st to 5th grade, and I have coached several elementary robotics teams in the past. I believe that ALL students have the potential and ability to be the next great inventors, scientists, mathematicians, engineers, artists, and critical thinkers. I look forward to sharing the many joys of STEAM with our students this year!

• I have a husband, Brian, and son, Elliott, who are my greatest joys in life!

• We have two big dogs, Boudreaux and Thibodeaux, and a cat named Eva. 

• I love to practice yoga, travel, read books, and cook new recipes in my free time.

Christie Nation!! It's so nice to meet you! I am Ms. Samantha Hernandez and I'm one of your Art Teachers. This is my first year as a teacher but some of our kiddos have known me as their Substitute/Art-Teacher-in-training for the last four years.

I graduated from Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD)with a BFA in Sequential Arts and a Minor in Storyboarding;  I LOVE stories and storytelling. For the past 13 years I have been a part of the art industry, and now I'm starting a new chapter here with you!

The proud faces I see in our classroom are what motivate me to make Art the most fun it can be. Every artist has a story to tell and we are here to help develop those skills and build that confidence.

Hello, Christie Nation!

My name is Mrs. M, and I’m thrilled to be a part of the Christie Elementary family! This is my 16th year teaching art. I’ve spent 11 years teaching elementary art and 4 years at the high school level, where I taught Art 1, Art 2, AP Art History, and Fashion Design. Additionally, I worked as an art instructor for the Oklahoma City Museum of Art, the Philharmonic, and Oklahoma Contemporary for 5 years. During that time, I taught a wide range of classes for students of all ages, from toddlers to adults. I also facilitated several family art programs in Oklahoma City.

I have a deep passion for fashion design, art history, and painting, but above all, I absolutely love teaching. I feel incredibly lucky to be your art teacher every day!

My husband, Ryan, is also an artist, and together we have three amazing kids, who are, without a doubt, our greatest masterpieces.

Hello Dan Christie families!

I'm Mrs. Gardner, and I am thrilled to be your child's elementary music teacher. For the past five years, I've had the joy of teaching students to love music as much as I do. My approach is rooted in the Kodály method, and I love using my skills on the piano and ukulele to make our classroom a fun and engaging place to learn.

Outside of school, I'm a proud parent to three wonderful children, with two attending Moseley Middle School and one at Dan Christie. Our family also includes two adorable three-year-old Boston Terriers who keep us on our toes!

Hello everyone! My name is Mrs. Riese, and I am one of your Dan Christie Music Teachers. I am currently in my 8th year of teaching. I graduated from Abilene Christian University with a major in Music Education for all levels. I have always known that Elementary Music is my passion - I spend 1 year teaching band, but my true love is Elementary school! In addition to my teaching degree, I am also Kodaly certified which is a long, rigorous program built to train music teachers in the best way to promote music literacy in young students. 

I have also spent many years performing professionally with orchestras and chamber groups across Texas. My primary instrument is the oboe.
