Read a Novel!
Research suggest that the best way to improve in all academics (not just ELAR) is be reading for pleasure. If any student is looking to improve in ELAR, I would like students to read a book of their choice for at least 15 minutes each evening. Below are some suggestions on what students can do WHILE reading their book.
Use STEAL to analyze a character from your novel
Use your Characterization and STEAL notes on google classroom to help with this
At the end of each chapter, stop and jot what you read.
This will help with comprehension of what you are reading.
Identify the different types of Figurative Language used in each chapter.

Make predictions on what you think will happen next. Be sure to record your thought and come back to see if you were correct!
