Our research suggests that despite enormous and admirable investments of time and money, we are much further from that goal that has been acknowledged, and the evidence base for what actually helps teachers improve is very thin.

That painful reality plays out time and again at schools across the country. Too often, teacher leaders are anointed with little guidance and held up as examples of advancement for the profession, even as they struggle with ambiguous expectations.
