When: 3 - 5 PM each day Friday, May 29th Saturday, May 30th Sunday, May 31st
Closing Session on Sunday, May 31st from 5:30 - 6:30 PM
What: Delegates will discuss a different topic each day to and work together to form a position statement at the conclusion of each session. Delegates will not represent a specific country, and will instead represent the diverse opinions and interests of global citizens.
Where: Delegates will connect using the video conferencing application, Zoom. Please download this free application in advance of the conference.
Why: The goals of the summit are to:
Address current global issues by discussing current global issues in small group and large group settings
Gather group thoughts into a collective statement
Encourage participation and deepen students’ understanding of international affairs and problems
Who: All Minnesota MUN delegates, grades 7-12 can participate. The youth officers are committed to creating a welcoming space for every delegate to get the most out of the Summit.
How: Time will be divided between large and small group settings. Each session will begin with a brief introduction by that day's Presiding Officers where they will review expectations and introduce the topic for the day.
After that, participants will be split into small committees chaired by the officers to discuss the topics in-depth. Delegates will be in these committee groups for approximately an hour.
Finally, the committees will come back together to share their ideas. The committee chairs will begin by reporting their committee's findings followed by a large group discussion facilitated by the Presiding Officers. The Presiding Officers will synthesize that day's findings into a position paper to be presented during the closing session.
Please join following the conclusion of the final session on Sunday for a closing session to recognize our accomplishments. The session will include:
Position statement reports
Awards for outstanding participants
Recognition for seniors
And more . . .
After the Summit, certificates of recognition will be available to print to commemorate our success
We recognize that one of the best parts of our conferences is making new friends and strengthening old bonds. The time we spend in committee and general sessions will bring people together and build their connections.
