Here is the music video for Charlie Puth's "One Call Away" performed in SOLFEGE SYLLABLES by ECE Music Theory students from The Woodstock Academy. This final product reflects the skills they developed throughout the unit I designed - Sight singing & Hand signing in solfege; Translating aural pitches into solfege; Performing 3-part harmony in solfege; & Engaging with technology to creatively display their performance!

These are my FigureNotes arrangements (2018): "How Far I'll Go" (Moana) and "One Call Away" (Charlie Puth). Reading FigureNote notation and performing on modified rock instruments is a great way to make music accessible for musicians with special needs or even for beginners!
I recently co-facilitated a presentation at the CMEA Conference with Dr. Kimberly McCord, founder of Just Accessible Music. I arranged some contemporary tunes to teach music educators at the conference, using Figurenotes - a notation system developed at the Resonaari School in Finland to enable those with disabilities to engage in music-making. The system is based on colored shapes that correspond to stickers placed on guitars and keyboards. I love how the guitars are adapted so the musician must only bar a fret to play a chord! Instant success! -5/2/18
