Originally from Milford, CT, I attended the University of Connecticut as an undergraduate to earn my B.A. in Music and B.S. in Music Education. My primary instrument is Percussion. I have had the honor of studying under Keith Aleo and Rob McEwan, and performing in various UConn ensembles including the Wind Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra, Percussion Ensemble, Concert Band, and Symphonic Band. I have performed in masterclasses with Bent Frequency, Jean-Baptiste LeClére, and Iktus Percussion, and performed at Carnegie Hall with the Wind Ensemble in 2014. As part of the Sackler Prize in Composition, I have played percussion in the world premieres of A Child’s Requiem and Quintet Matinee, which was recorded in Mechanics Hall and released through Summit Records. In 2017, I co-founded Rondo Percussion Quartet. Our recital featured my arrangement of Billy Joel's "Vienna," in which I sang and played 4 mallet marimba.
I was heavily involved in the UConn Marching Band, serving as Mellophone Section Leader (2015-16), Tau Beta Sigma Service Chair (2015-17), Director Intern and Featured Vocalist (2017). In addition to percussion and mellophone, I learned to play the trombone in the UConn Concert Band (2018). My other musical interests include playing the guitar, banjo, bass, ukulele, piano, singing, and arranging/composing music. I have had much experience performing at local events and serving as a worship leader for Cru and Hope Church in Storrs, CT.
My teaching experience is incredibly diverse and includes but is not limited to: Pre-K - 5th Grade General Music and Chorus Teacher (Lake Street Elementary School); Pre-K/Kindergarten General Music Teacher (Birch Grove Primary); High School Band/Music Theory/Piano (The Woodstock Academy); Middle School Choral/General (Hall Memorial MS); Elementary Marching/Concert Band (Orange Public Schools). I attribute my successes to a number of mentors ~ Keith Aleo, Lauren Churchill, Dr. Cara Bernard, Dr. Joseph Abramo, Dr. David Mills, Kathy Adams, and many more!
Fun facts: I studied in Florence, Italy (2015); I served as Percussion Coordinator at Interlochen Center for the Arts (2014, 16); I love visiting Nashville and the Jersey Shore.
