Finding your personal filter Part 1
In today's society one may find it rather over whelming when searching for information in regards to your workout or personal health routine. After all with Youtube, Twitter, Facebook, Pintrest, and the internet your access to information has reached a critical point. Many of us, myself included, will have spent mindless hours being frustrated and risk potentially walking away all together before we really begin. So how do we prevent this or decrease the possibility of this happening? By developing what I like to refer to as your personal filter. Your personal filter is what is used when looking at information that helps you to weed through everything and get to that information or content that is specific to what you are wanting to know or do. One of the foundational elements of your personal filter is...Goals. Yes, you have probable heard about goals throughout your life and have even set some for yourself. Goals help to define what it is we are working toward, the big picture. Having a clearly defined goal helps to keep things in focus and adds the lens to your personal filter. So if you were to create your goal what would it be and where would you start. I find that having an image of your goal is a great way to start, when picking your image you want to find something that peaks your interest. Being interested in your goal will help you in being successful while achieving your end results. If we were to look at a marathon runner, triathlete, power lifter, or a cross fitter we would find that they all have a goal of being in shape. However, what we then realize is that how each one of these people achieving that idea of being fit is different. So this goal needs to be a specific to you as possible, if you are having a hard time with figuring this out then starting off with a broad goal works. This will work with the idea that becoming more specific with your goal is key to development and success.
