Cotton: Imperial Absorbent Cotton Wool

Manufactured by: Chishti Pharmaceutical Ind. Chichawatni

Background: Provincial Drug Inspector collected the sample from Tehsil Samundri Dist. Faisalabad and sent it to the Punjab Drug Testing Laboratory (DTL) for testing and analysis.

Problem: Manufacturer has claimed the absorbency of cotton wool is NMT 10 seconds at 20-25^o C but DTL has determined absorbency of cotton wool 63 seconds and found pieces of threads that does not comply the stated specifications. Therefore, DTL has declared it SUB-STANDARD.

Recommendation: This product does not meet appropriate quality standards and specifications. All concerned are intimated to keep avoid in procurement, dispensation, promotion, sale and use of this batch of pharmaceutical product.
