Manufactured by: English Pharmaceutical Industries, Lahore, Pakistan

Background: Provincial Drug Inspector collected the sample from Tehsil Talagang District Chakwal and sent it to the Punjab Drug Testing Laboratory (DTL) for testing and analysis.

Problem: Manufacturer has claimed Cephradine 250mg/5ml. But DTL has determined Cephradine 182mg (72.8%)/5ml. Physical appearance of the sample was also out of specs. Therefore, Punjab Drug Testing Laboratory has declared it SUB-STANDARD. This product may practically fail to produce therapeutic effect.

Recommendation: This product does not meet appropriate quality standards and specifications and may therefore be ineffective and potentially harmful to patients. All concerned are intimated to keep avoid in procurement, dispensation, promotion and use of this pharmaceutical product.
