Attention (ALERT)!

Provincial Drug Control Unit received a case report of anaphylaxis related to Injection Anti-Snake Venom (ASV). The drug is known to cause such reactions and clinicians are advised to follow dosing schedule as follows; Initially 10mL for 1 dose, then 10mL after 1–2 hours if systemic envenoming persist after the first dose. For more severe symptoms; Initially 20mL for 1 dose (BNF-73). Skin test is recommended injecting 0.02 to 0.03ml of 1:10 dilution intradermally. Administration may be fatal if positive skin test (Product literature).
