The troupe officers are the ambassadors of the department. This fantastic and dedicated group of students have been chosen by director and sponsor Kimberly Coyle, and are here to help club members in any way possible. They put in extra time and effort to make sure that our environment is one that is welcoming, educational, and fun! If you see these faces around, make sure to say hi!
The International Thespian Honor Society was established for high school students who excel in theatre arts. Membership in troupe 4992 is based on volunteer hours served for any Theatre Department production or activity starting with the ninth grade school year. Points are to be recorded, by the student and the vice president. Once 10 points are recorded, a $35.00* membership fee is to be paid to the International Thespian Society, which entitles the member to a Thespian membership card, pin, certificate, and a one-year subscription to Dramatics Magazine. At graduation, members will receive an honor cord. Your name will also be recorded on the Olympic Heights Thespian Membership Roll to be displayed.
Thespian members are eligible for scholarships, which are awarded at the district and state festivals.
Each member is invited to attend the annual thespian initiation and award banquet.
Any student may attend or participate in thespian meetings for participation in District and State festivals. One does NOT have to been in theatre to join thespians. It is each student’s responsibility to stay informed of thespian activities by reading the callboards and attending meetings.
Thespian Individual Events auditions will be held annually for participation in festivals. There are registration fees and drop charges for each festival. If proper paperwork is not received on time, the student may be dismissed from the event.
Only troupe/school approved delegates may attend the festival.
Students may not attend without qualifying.
Students/guardians may not purchase state or district day passes without troupe/school approval.
Any student who attends a festival without proper approval will receive strict disciplinary action and will not participate in the future.
Mrs. Coyle reserves the right to dismiss participants who do not fully meet expectations.
ITS has been honoring excellence in the work of theatre since 1929 and the society has recently inducted its 2.2 millionth member! Each troupe is led by a troupe director that is a member of the Educational Theatre Association (Mrs. Coyle). Thespian with an uppercase “T” refers to a member of the International Thespian Society, the world’s largest honor society for theatre students. The designation “Thespian” includes student members who excel in technical and production fields as well as performance in their high school theatre. In short, this is the theatrical honor society. Members earn awards, get discounts on tickets to most productions, and are able to wear honor cords at graduation. This looks FANTASTIC on a resume! To become a member, see and work on productions in order to earn points. At the end of the year, your points are calculated for a chance to earn membership and awards.

District X Thespian Competition: Sponsored by the International Thespian Society, Districts is an exciting time where students are able to compete in several different categories that range from performance to technical theatre with other students from District X to win numerous awards (all of which look great on a resume!) Competition fees usually range from $45.00 - $65.00. Since our troupe is so large, all pieces must audition to enter. Auditions will be announced in class once Mrs. Coyle has all of the appropriate registration information. Districts will be December 13, 2025.
Florida State Thespian Festival: Sponsored by the International Thespian Society, FSTF is the largest theatre student festival in the country, topping over 12,000 students! It is one of the most educational yet fun times a student can have where s/he can workshop with professionals, compete for awards and scholarships, make strong theatrical contacts, and watch incredible theatre!
The week after the District X Thespian Competition, Mrs. Coyle will determine which pieces we will bring to the FSTF. If you compete at districts, you are able to observe or perform at State if selected. This is a very costly trip, typically between $600 and $750 per student based on previous years.
The festival is March 18 – 22, 2026. All attending students must make the only deposit December 16, 2026. All payments are nonrefundable and final.
