Water Testing
Y axis: number of macroinvertabrates X axis: Location
What questions we are trying to answer:
What does pH mean?
What is the pH level for the Laramie River?
What percent of the wildlife is being affected by micro plastics?
Why do fish change gender?
Observations:
When we went to Jelm River Entrance in Woods Landing, we noticed that the water had little to no micro plastics in the river.
We found a few pieces of trash near the river.
We collected and observed the data collection and found some interesting samples.
There was a neutral amount of pH in the river samples. (The neutral amount of pH in water is 7.)
Hypothesis:
pH: potential of hydrogen
There will be micro plastics in the river and the river will not be in good condition for wildlife.
Possible solution:
Using collected data, provide evidence of the problem and work with the city government to make changes to work with our ideas.
Materials:
o Water samples
o Litmus Paper (used to measure pH)
o Coffee filters
o Plastic containers
o Tweezers
o Scoops
o Light microscopes
o Glass slides
o Slide covers
