Project 012018:
Households & Livestock (Pigs, Poultry, Fish Farms and Cattle) Information
Accurate, up to date and relevant information for potential farmers and farm suppliers is very hard to come by with regard to agriculture and livestock.
We at Labur Piggery therefore hope to initiate partnerships with the Division of Agriculture & Livestock and other stakeholders to conduct a rapid survey to gather contemporary data on household agriculture & livestock production with regard to the inputs, consumption trends and development initiatives in Northern Province.

Project 022018: Locally Produced Animal Feed
Crucial to animal husbandry and pig farming for that matter is availability of and accessibility to local animal nutrition products. With 70% to 80% total cost of farm operations spent on animal feed, locally available and cheap sources of feed are vital for successful and sustainable operations.
Description
Labur Piggery has embarked on this project to develop cheaper feeds using local components. Our experiences of past attempts and current developments will be published on this site as this project progresses.
Project 032018: Small Scale Water and Sewerage Systems
Description
Housing of pigs raises wastewater management issues. Proper disposal or recycling of farm wastes will discourage contamination of human and animal water sources. This project is targeted at small scale farmers who predominantly operate in populated areas.
Project 042018: Pig Farmer Training
Description
With youth unemployment issues and a growing informal sector, this project will impart the necessary skills, information and practical experience to farm pigs as a source of regular income for subsistence farmers or informal entrepreneurs.
