The dark storms are stirring
The purest angels are cursing
The numerous stars are falling
The crimson ashes are dawdling
Don't scream
Don't cry
The monster I have become
Is only a figment in your eye.
I came for vengeance
Only attained grievance.
I loved dancing
I loved expression
Now here I sit in a land of your suppression
I scream "Freedom!"
I scream "Justice!"
Now here I sit behind the bars of jurisdiction
Let me open your eyes friend
Let me be helping hand.
I want to touch the skies that are
beyond common science fiction!
Yet here I am and
Here I'll stay
In a world that will never see me as me
Ever again.

I'm curious
Curious about
What true love feels like
With and without
Do you know just from the start
When you look into their eyes
Your rapidly beating heart
Your stomach filled with butterflies
Do you get along right away
Smiling at each other
Or fight throughout the day
Making fun of one another
Is it fast and easy
With giggles and smiles
Or is it slow and make you feel sleazy
With your heart in piles
Is it all at once
Or does it take a long time
Oh how I wish I knew
I'll just wait for when it's time

He greeted me, "Hi, How are you?"
It seemed as if he were genuine about it too.
Yet, away he went, before my reply.
Maybe he just said it so conversation wouldn't be dry.
But if he'd waited for me to say good, thanks, I would've asked him how
he's doing too.

Pardon the roses at her feet
They used to stand for something sweet
Oh how the times have changed
From the one-track minds of the humbug age
Take forth these vapid glasses
With their ethereal hue
Give me something sweeter
At the cost of me to you
What would I give to see again
Is something I should chance
A way to see unfiltered
To feat upon the damned
But what is this I see
There’s a monster under a tree
Hold’s something in it’s eyes I haven’t seen for a long time
But what I couldn’t even stomach
And what I couldn’t even save
Was my grace when looked and frowned because the monster had my face
What is this dripping color I have?
Pressed up against the walls
And smeared upon the face of the world sincere?
Cause all the children are dead
And for the first time I see red
Red on my hand and of those who dare to dance the way they do.
The way they walk, the way they talk, the way they lack remorse too.
Pardon me baby, these rose tint colored goggles are giving me the blues.

The waving flag wraps them in its fold
Never to be forgotten in the call we tell
Mighty young men and women pass us by
When we pledge to their memory
Each one who doesn't return the way they once were
But now immortal as the past has its flame
To warm our nation's need for us again and again.
Let be the hearts of every families' loss to make the total sacrifice to those living.
Remembering the holy ones...
God's gaze loves all of us who know what we stand for.
In hope with loss, which give our nations so much pride and sanctity.

I want to ride on bitter fear
And kiss away an angel’s tears
Where words are prayed and hallowed be thy name
Every aspect of your face
Reminds me of my fall from grace
and that is why these scars still hurt
But darling whenever you come near
My pain it seems to disappear
And that is why you are my
Heaven On Earth
Won’t you forsake me?
I want you baby
As are the gods who’s envy of you grows too
But all the boys say
“I’m not your lady”
Know my feelings are true
Cause underneath my blood runs blue
The envy of the gods above concede to pieces
For angels don’t save memories that are too far for them to reach
Salvation lies between her eyes
Her mind is where she speaks
With every hum and afterthought I think about for weeks
Angel’s tears run on bitter fear
and lips to start a war
I’d taste the halo on your head before I’d welcome scorn
Heresy I’d bare with me
Your body is the Church
That is why I tell no lies you’re my
Heaven On Earth

Sunny skies, with no chance of rain,
Watching the skies for airplanes
The days go by, however,
But I guess it is for the better
Tired from the day,
I watch the skies turn gray
Rainy days are great too,
But I am just feeling a little blue

I was far too young
To comprehend
The very sad loss
Of my very best friend
I thought I was strong
But your name makes me weak
I stumble along
The memories far too meek
Your presence I yearn
As I grow older
All that I learn
Slowly growing colder
I learned that you should never
Take things for granted
For you may lose it forever
For it isn't just handed
Death is a thief
It took my friend
So bring him back to me
And I'll forgive you in the end
I wish you were here
I wish you hadn't left so soon
So make me see more clear
And come back to me by noon

Fast and Sudden. Quiet, then it wasn't
'Bout time to meet the one, even at my age
You are the finish line of this race
Could we stay here forever? Your hand in mine
Told me you'd wait forever, take my time.
Overthink and analyze, when u call me pretty
Stars froze above us, your arm around me.
I want to stay here forever... could we?

My name is Shayna Tang
The last part is one I bear proudly
Tang, so easy to say
Tang, displaying my heritage for all
But my first, oh my first
Shayna, Shayna, Shayna
So unique, so different
I bet those reading and hearing it have got it all out of wack
Those who hear it, spell it wrong
I've seen my fair share
Shana, Shaena, Shaina?
What's next? Shaquella?
They get the S-H-A
Then fall off the wagon
But let's raise a toast
To all of those whose joke of the day is their Starbuck's name
To those who anxiously wait in roll call
To those who are jealous of the Nick's, Emily's, Patrick's, and the Sarah's
Let's raise a toast to, wait, how do you say your name?

They say love is patient and they say love is kind, but what happens when love gets up, leaves you waiting, left behind
They say you always gain by giving love, but what happens when you have no more to give, when you yourself have given up
They say if you love them let them go, but what happens when holding on is the only thing you know, when leaving is more than you can endure, when they are all that held you safe and secure
You say all these things, but you must not know
How it feels to be stuck, tied in, no way you can grow

You think you have friends to watch your back
But really all they are waiting for is when you are under attack
They say you will be fine because you haven't let them in
But only you are the one who knows the true story that lies within
I put on this face as I go to school
So that everyone thinks that I am fine and that everything is cool
There is a void that fills me up
Messing with how I think and filling up the cup
When the cup is full it will tip over
And my emotions will spill out and come fast like a roller coaster
After this they will see
What truly lies inside of me
They will then come crawling back
But it will be too late
Because they did not hesitate
When I told them that I was feeling this heartache.

Barefoot, I skip in high grass
with the buttery thought of my brain slipping away through my fingers into pools of action
Lacing everything together into the mysterious ways of fields
The tiny curls of hair blowing
The shifty winds blow from the mouth of the air, making the wind crave my hair
The fragrance of the field make the stem from each flowers bend like a gymnast bending
The dampness these plants provide in the high grass has a recklessness for anything
The humble humans that runaround the silky grass towering over the garden nearby
The lushness of everything makes me eager for more.

The yellow happy faced balloon
Tied to the screen door
The red nose that was too big for me
The sky looks to have been so clear
Playing back the film in the mind
Bright and blue like in your favorite movie
The leaves began to fall
And she was born
A few years later he'd buy you a kite
And a Taylor Swift record even though
He didn't want you listening to country
But now I listen for the memory of him
In every Zeppelin song
Love on earth can be unconditional
I refuse to believe otherwise
Abuelo and Abuela stealing me from my mama's bed
To go to sleep with them
"Me robaron! Me robaron!"
This was the love I needed
I remember Sany didn't like seeing me sad
It was real in her heart!
And I can't ever forget she cared like that
You were so fun, a dancing flame
Nothing was boring and I think they loved you right
Mama, I'm sorry if I don't do well
I still tell her to this day
But she loves her Angel
I want things to always be this way
She loves her so well
She loves her well enough for the whole of creation
This will always be with me always

“No!” Dylan shouted as she awoke from her sleep. Her body was drenched in sweat, and her heart was racing rapidly. This had been the third night in a row that she had experienced this dream. The feeling of pain and loneliness remained vividly in her head. In her dream, she was still living on the island, Nulla. Her dream took place in the year three thousand fifty, fifty years from now. Dylan was frightened at the possibility of her still living on the island in fifty years. She hated living in Nulla. The people living in Nulla were miserable and afraid all the time. They were granted no freedom, and they were forced to stay on the island for the rest of their lives. There were many hardships, but Dylan knew that one day she would be able to escape. Dylan laid wide awake in complete darkness thinking about the dream. This can’t happen she thought. I can’t sit around anymore.
The residents of Nulla were closely watched. Anyone who attempted to escape was never seen again. This did not scare Dylan though. Dylan would do whatever it took to be able to go beyond the borders of Nulla. However, Nulla was surrounded by a tall wall and hundreds of guards. It would be nearly impossible to be able to find a way to go beyond the borders. If she was able to escape, the leader would most definitely find out. The leader has full control of Nulla, even though they have never been seen by anyone before. The unseen leader scared the inhabitants of Nulla. They had never seen their leader before, but they knew it was always there watching. However, Dylan was not scared of it. She wouldn’t let that stop her from trying to escape. The only reason why she hadn’t escaped yet was because of her family and her best friend, Ann. If Dylan left, she would never be able to come back and would never see them again. These people meant the world to Dylan, but she knew that she could not live in suffering any longer.
“I can’t take it anymore,” Dylan cried to Ann.
“It’s okay, calm down, everything will be okay,” replied Ann.
“No, you don’t understand,” Dylan shot back, “I can’t keep living like this anymore.”
“What do you mean?” questioned Ann.
“I’m sorry, but I'm going to have to find a way to escape,” replied Dylan.
“It could be very dangerous, and I don’t want you to get hurt,” said Ann sadly.
“I know, but I’ll be careful,” said Dylan. “I'm sorry, but nothing you say can change my decision.” Dylan ran off without even listening to a word Ann said after that.
Later that day, "ATTENTION SEVERE STORM APPROACHING" appeared on the screens located on the street posts outside. Dylan was on her way to her house when she saw this. That's it thought Dylan. If she would be able to find a way to escape, the storm would be her only chance. Everyone would be worried about the storm, rather than trying to prevent the possibility of someone trying to escape. Dylan knew it would be risky, but she couldn’t live like this anymore.
The storm was reportedly going to happen tomorrow. This gave Dylan only one day to prepare. She wasn’t scared at all though, instead she was full of anger rather than fear. She had never experienced true happiness before and had never seen anything besides the color white and grey. Every building was this color and so were the clothing everyone had to wear. She had so much hatred towards the leader for taking away her freedom that she would be willing to risk her life.
Throughout the night, Dylan made the preparations necessary to make sure everything worked out. She couldn’t say goodbye to her family and friends though. She knew they would stop her from going, but Dylan was determined to get her way. The next day, the storm came around ten o’clock at night. To the surprise of everyone, the storm was much more severe than they had thought it was going to be. The high wind speeds knocked down street posts, took people’s belongings away, and caused great fear among the people of Nulla. Everybody including the guards were inside the buildings seeking shelter.
On Dylan’s way to the border wall, the electricity went out everywhere. There was complete darkness among the island. Dylan grabbed a flashlight from her backpack and continued to make her way. Once at the wall, she was able to climb over it quite easily. She had attached a rope around the boat so she would be able to pull it up once she got to the top. At the top, she tied the rope around a small wooden post. The winds were strong and lightning struck down around Nulla. The top of the wall was slippery and Dylan had to make sure she moved cautiously. As Dylan was about to let the boat down, her foot slipped off the edge. She quickly grabbed the wooden post. Her legs were dangling off the side of the wall with her hands tightly wrapped around the wooden post. Dylan used all her strength to pull herself up back to the top of the wall. At the top, Dylan began to let down the boat carefully again. She then began to make her way down the wall carefully and efficiently.
Once she reached the ground, a sudden joy came to her. This was a feeling she had never experienced before. She felt happiness and freedom. She could not believe that she had finally gone beyond the border. Dylan knew she would never be able to see Ann or her family again, but it was worth it to her. As Dylan was about to grab the boat, the storm suddenly disappeared. All Dylan could see was white. She opened her eyes and found herself in her room.
