The International Project on Arts and Aesthetics was initiated in 2014 by a cross-disciplinary research group project, subsidized by the Ministry of Science and Technology of Taiwan.
Besides domestic scholars, academics from the French National Center for Scientific Research (Centre national de la recherche scientifique, CNRS), the School of Advanced Studies in the Social Sciences (École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales, EHESS), and the Department of East Asian Studies at the University of Toronto, Canada, collectively constitute the philosophical and aesthetic background of this research group.
As of today, local members include scholars from Academia Sinica, National Taipei University of Education, National Chengchi University, National Yang-Ming University, and National Taiwan University. In the past few years, the research group has held four seminars in Taipei (Taipei University of Education, Fu Jen University) and Paris. The abundant fruition of the past two years has also followed by a published special issue.
