Description
This course introduces students to the basics of woodworking safety, tools, and materials while teaching them the skills needed to design and build multiple construction projects both individually and within a team. Through at-home study and in-class presentations students will learn about and apply knowledge of jobsite safety, measuring and marking tools, basic carpentry hand tools, and power tools for cutting, shaping, fastening, and finishing. Time permitting, students may also learn the basics of coding and using a CNC machine to create work they can bring home and keep. This course takes place within a fully-equipped modern and professional woodworking shop under the expert eyes of master carpenters. Student will be required to design and draw their own projects, prepare and deliver presentations, and work within a team to produce a final group project--all of which will receive evaluation from instructor(s).
