What does my student need to bring to orchestra?

Students need to bring their instrument, binder with music, and book to every lesson and morning orchestra rehearsal. (Music stands can stay at home for practice.) **If your student plays the bass, they do not need to bring their bass for their lesson.

What is the schedule for morning orchestra rehearsals?

Morning orchestra rehearsals begin Thursday, Sept. 19th.

Chamber Orchestra: Thursdays 7:30-8:30 am @ Wasco.

Chamber Orchestra combines all Wasco and Bell-Graham 5th grade students for all rehearsals and performances throughout the year. District buses will return Bell-Graham students to school to begin the school day.

What is the procedure for going to lessons during the school day?

-Students are responsible for watching the clock and coming to lessons on their own. Classroom teachers and orchestra teachers will not remind students.

-2 minutes before the start time of lessons, students should quietly come to their lesson. There are to be no disruptions as students leave class.

-It is a great idea to have an orchestra “buddy.” An orchestra buddy is someone who is NOT in a student's lesson group, but is someone who can help remind a student of their lesson time and can help them get caught up on what they missed in their home classroom during their orchestra lesson. The student does not have to be in orchestra to be a student's “buddy.”

How much should my student be practicing?

Students should be practicing their instrument 5-7 days a week to maintain their skills and to ensure musical and technical development. (It’s a lot more fun to play when you get really good!) **Practicing and preparation for lessons is reflected in your student’s report card each trimester and is the most essential part to student’s musical growth.
