Our solution is called the Hybrid Security System, it consists of a system and architecture that has multiple programs acting like firewalls. Adding a HSS gives a layer of protection that cars desperately need. By implementing this system, we (security professionals) can prevent unauthorized access to important bus systems and modules. The program provides a first and second line of defense to the network on top of systems and protocols currently protecting the architecture now. In theory the more layers of security, the better. Our Architecture does not just help further secure the car, but give an architecture that in the future, will be universal and cost effective. Instead of trying to redesign an entire architecture of a car network, one could just implement this security design into an already existing architecture.
To create ...
An universal security system for automotive manufacturers.
A system comprised of multiple programs acting like firewalls, located in strategic places within a car network.
An adaptable system that can adjust to its environment.
The HSS is broken up into 3 separate layers. These layers consist of:
Hybrid Security System (HSS) - This is the overall security system and resource center for the other two layers. It could be considered as the institution or business.
Hybrid Security Program (HSP) - This is the software and host program that manages the firewall like programs. Think of this as the manager of a business.
Firewall Like Program (FLP) - This is the individual program (slave program) installed on automotive hardware acting like a firewall. Think of it as the employee.
Each layer has an important role to play in the overall architecture.
