The HSS layer is the top most layer of the program. This layer was design to store the resources needed for the Hybrid Security Program and Firewall Like Programs to establish a secure environment in the automotive network. The HSS has four components assigned to it, the "database", the “hybrid security system overview log”, the “troubleshoot channel”, and the “vehicle interaction channel". Without these components, the HSS would not have the necessary functions to provide the utmost security for an automobile.
Database: The database is where resources for the HSP come from.
Hybrid Security System Overview Log: A centralized logging system that collects every log from the overall system and stores it for analysis by admins.
Troubleshoot Channel: The component that allow an administrator to access the HSS for debugging, system analysis and updates.
Vehicle Interaction Channel: A component that listens to the entire network listening for new devices and removal of devices. This is also where information and requests to the HSS/HSP enter.
