THERMAclad is underway with the installation of a new 32,000m2 fruit cooling and holding facility for the export market. 30+ Cooling Tunnels along with 5 Holding Rooms, Staging Areas, large Airlocks and over 30 Loading and Receiving Bays will make this facility one of the largest fruit terminals in Cape Town.
THERMAclad has been appointed for Phase 2 of this factory build.
A mixture of 2hr and 4hr fire rated Rockwool Insulated Panels are being used as fire walls for the extension. Polystyrene Insulated Panels for the facade and roof. External skins of the panels are to be 'Dark Dolphin' to match the existing manufacturing halls.
A total of 15,000m2 of Insulated Panels will be installed to a height of 19,000mm.

Currently THERMAclad is underway with the stripping of the existing cladding and insulation of 5 buildings and replacing it with 4,000m2 of Saint Gobain Rockwool cored Insulated Wall and Roof Panels.
Panels range from 5,000mm up to 11,500mm in length.
The main project was completed in December 2020 with a few variations running into 2021.
The extension to the existing SPAR Distribution Centre in Nelspruit comprises of two new rooms, a +2deg Chiller and a +14deg Cold Room. The 2,000sqm facility is linked to the existing Cold Rooms via an Insulated Passage. Work started mid January 2021 and was handed over at the end of February.
Early in 2017, the M&R Marketing group moved from their Cape Town Market premises to a newly upgraded facility. THERMAclad were contracted to install the 4,500m2 of insulated panels making up 5 Cold Rooms, 2 Drop Temp Dispatch Area's, a large Processing Area and 4 Banana Ripening Rooms.
Extra emphasis was placed on the long term protection of the insulated panels with over 30 goal posts, 200m of ARMCO barrier and some 390 sprinkler penetrations, all installed by THERMAclad.
As with most Banana Rooms in South Africa, the Dutch company BG Doors was recommended to the client, accepted and successfully installed by THERMAclad.
THERMAclad has been awarded the contract to upgrade and refurbish an existing pork processing facility.
With almost 15,000m2 of insulated panels supplied and being installed the project is well underway.
Areas include; Freezers, Smoke Rooms, General Production and Packaging, Receiving and Dispatch,Offices, Ablutions etc.
THERMAclad is underway with the construction of a clean room facility for the extraction of chemical agents.
Careful attention was given to the doors as THERMAclad and the project engineers designed a bespoke system for the client.
The adjoining enclosures where also constructed from Insulated Panels.
THERMAclad has been contracted to install imported Quadcore Kingspan insulated panels for numerous Carton and Spiral Freezer projects.
To date 5 separate Freezers have been installed.
The ongoing upgrades to the existing facility started mid 2019 with completed works so far being the Pre-Pack Extension and New Butter Freezer.
2021 will see the Double 0 Vats Area and Feta Plant being added to the list.
THERMAclad is currently busy on site with the installation of over 800m2 of PIR cored Stainless Steel panels. The OO Vats Area has had a complete revamp with a new enclosure, Vats, ventilation and pipework.
This is one of four projects THERMAclad will be busy with over the next few months with the +2deg Chiller, Cheese Pre Cooling and Canteen all starting early November.

Since early 2019 THERMAclad has been working with the client on upgrades at facilities in Cape Town and Johannesburg.
The client has made an executive decision to only use Kingspan Insulated Panels for all future upgrades and new projects.
2020 has seen a number of upgrade projects at the RCL Plant in Worcester.
These include: Upgrade to the factory shop, Container covered area, Despatch Office and various repairs to the existing facility.
THERMAclad was asked to assist with the design and supply of a migrant worker ablution and shower facility.
The entire structure was constructed with Insulated Panels and all fixtures were also supplied and installed.
THERMAclad has completed numerous modular housing projects incorporating light steel frame floor grids and insulated panel structures. Both systems, being modular, can be designed in any configuration and size to meet the clients needs.
Housing units can be clad or finished with a wide range of products to give a desired effect or a more conventional feel. Aluminium and PVC doors and windows can be custom made to suit the design and take full advantage of the structural strengths of the insulated panels.

THERMAclad recently completed the installation of a 2,000m2 -25C Low Temperature Store.
The contract includes an Airlock with motorized sectional overhead docking doors and floor insulation that allows for the installation of mobile racking (Barpro Storage).
THERMAclad worked closely with the design team to ensure all requirements for the insulation contract were in place, limiting delays.
The berry and stone fruit grower in Robertson, Saratoga, has recently upgraded there cooling and pack house facilities.
THERMAclad was appointed for the Cooling Tunnels, Staging Area and Pack House extension. Still to come is the Berry Pull down Room, starting in October 2019.
THERMAclad has been awarded the contract to upgrade an existing Grape Packing Facility.
The aim is to help maintain temperature while packing after cooling has taken place. The upgrade includes a US based humidification system that is proven to maintain quality of the grapes and extend shelf life.
2018 will see the the roll out of the system in a new Pack House built of insulated panels.
The retail giant Pick n Pay is currently busy with alterations to there Distribution Centre in Ottery, Cape Town. Some of the works include new Airlocks, Offices, Loading Bays and the alterations to internal layouts.
THERMAclad, along with the other contractors, have had to work closely with the client and each other so as not to hinder the mass operations of dispatching fresh produce to stores.
