School-wide Initiatives

The New York City Department Of Education (NYCDOE) works hard to ensure that every student in each borough, district, neighborhood, and school have the same tools they need to achieve in their learning. Many citywide initiatives are created to improve New York City Public School to enhance the students learning and opportunity to achieve for the future. We are proud to support one initiative practiced today in all New York City Public School, which is the Equity and Excellence for All Agenda, created by former New York City School Chancellor Carmen Fariña and incumbent New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio. Other key initiatives are continued to be practiced today in our school thanks to the effort of the previous administration of the New York City Department of Education. Bellow is the links to the webpages of each initiative that is focused here at the Queens High School of Teaching.

Resepect for All

It is the policy of the DOE to maintain school environments that are free from harassment, intimidation, and/or bullying, and free from discrimination on account of actual or perceived race, color, ethnicity, national origin, immigration/ citizenship status, religion, gender, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, disability, or weight.

AP for All

The primary goal of AP for All is to bring new Advanced Placment (AP) courses to schools that offer few or no AP courses. These schools will get rigorous training for new and continuing AP teachers. The city will also help school leaders identify students who are ready for AP course work and prepare those students to address equity gaps.

College Access for All

The primary goal for College Access for All focuses on having all NYC high school student by the 2018-19 school year, to be given access to an authentic “college-ready” culture in their high schools, with every student graduating from high school with an individual college and career plan and have access to resources that will support them in pursuing that plan.

Computer Science for All

By 2025, every public school student in New York City will learn computer science, making ours the largest school district in the nation to teach this critical subject to all students in all public schools. Through Computer Science for All, NYC public school students will receive meaningful, high-quality Computer Science (CS) education at each school level.
