Future Generations Collaborative

Striving to generate a healthy, healing, and growing Indigenous community, The Future Generations Collaborative centers traditional values and collaboration in the prevention of FASD, and provide lifelong support to community members who have been impacted by FASD, through multi-generational educational programming, community driven engagement, and innovative policy shifts.

The Future Generations Collaborative operates in greater Multnomah County on stolen and occupied Chinook and Clackamas communities' land.

Like our ancestors before us, we stay grounded in our traditional wisdom and are guided by our collective strength in times that continue to be challenging. At the FGC, we believe in and operate on collective impact. We are always stronger together.

Because of this, the FGC has developed several tools centering the Native American/Alaska Native and Indigenous Communities. Although they center around our cultural values and practices, this guide is open to all community members. Please share and let us know of pieces we are missing.

Named after Barbie Jackson Shields (Atwai), a Natural Helper who passed away from a brain aneurysm. The vision started in 2017 - a place to call home for parents and small children who are houseless. The FGC will provide tiny homes, early childhood services, access to medical and dental, and other services to uplift the Native families who will live on site.  Much gratitude to Hennebery Eddy Architects and Danae Sakuma for the volunteer work on designing the vision, and the community members who shared their dreams.

More details to come as development continues.

Community Health Workers (CHW) are community members who provide education, resource referrals, basic medical information, and help navigate the healthcare and medical system. Our team of eight CHWs are located at NAYA, NARA, and NWI.

Check out their page for their bio's, and more information on their projects and services.

Native Wellness Institute is a community leader in Healing and Restorative practices, guiding our community in how to stay grounded in abundance and community during times of increased stress. Staff are skilled and knowledgeable in cultural healing practices, understanding of historical trauma, and community support. Activity based support groups are offered to the community to support connection.

SPIRITS has had the privilege of participating in the lives of families and providing support to children from a strength-based and culturally congruent approach that seeks to nurture and meet families where they are by helping them to identify and reflect their beauties as they are carried through their child's and families traditions, gifts and goals.

Because the FGC is a collaboration between many Native organizations and individuals in the Portland area. Most of our events and programming is now updated directly to our Facebook and Instagram accounts. Follow us for up to date information!
