Due to many institutional barriers, many of our community members already struggle with isolation and a lack of access to resources. The added stress of adjusting to staying at home as often as possible due to the Oregon statewide shelter in place order makes it even more difficult to care for ourselves, our families, and our communities in a good way. The Future Generations Collaborative heard a need from the community. We know we are stronger when we work together, share resources, share wisdom, and learn from each other. Therefore, we created the FGC Stay-At-Home Toolkit, designed for whole families (birth-Elder) to have an activity, find vital phone numbers to reduce isolation and stress, and recenter ourselves in the resilience we hold as Indigenous peoples.
Our first round of toolkits were mailed out to just under 100 people the second week of April 2020. Before the first mailing went out, we had requests from other counties, tribal nations, and community members for access to share with their communities. So, we have put our toolkit online. You can download and print out the packet for free. If you need a printed and mailed copy of the toolkit, please complete the online google form. We come from a place of abundance and the reality of a budget - so we will work with you to try to get out as many copies of the toolkit as possible.
We hope to keep track of how many toolkits we have distributed and gather your feedback in adjusting new kits in the future. Please take a minute to complete the survey about how you felt about the toolkit and feel free to let us know if you and your family found it useful. We appreciate you and are thrilled we had the opportunity to share community with you in this way.
In this toolkit, you will find basic COVID-19 information, coloring pages and activity guides for a range of ages, a stretching guide, youth/young adult leadership development pages, and more all donated and adapted by our team of leaders, FGC Natural Helpers and Elders and FGC Partners which include (but are not limited to) the Native American Youth and Family Center, Native American Rehabilitation Association, SPIRITS, Native Wellness Institute, Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde, Multnomah County Public Health Department, and many local artists who have developed beautiful coloring pages for our children. On the back of this page you will find a list of basic community resources. We are excited to share this toolkit with you as a reminder of how strong we are when we work together. We hope to have another round of toolkit contents available in the future with additional materials and a website where you can find this and more.
Wherever you are in the world, you matter and we welcome you to the FGC community.
Please feel free to access the resources in this kit. Many community members and organizations shared their knowledge to make this possible.
This kit includes our coloring book from local Indigenous artists in the greater Portland area!
In this issue is our parent support guide for school advocacy. As parents navigate school closures, openings, and potential exposures, advocating online and over the phone can become even more stressful than usual. Here are some ideas and things to think through, and some resources to hopefully help!
This new series is a delivery based kit series. Periodic deliveries are made to those who are on our list that include food, crafts, traditional medicines, self-care, educational materials, and more! Content lists and print outs will be updated here for you to source and create your own kits for your own community!
Because we are ever trying to improve and be responsive to our community, we ask that if you have received a packet, or disseminated the toolkit to your community, to please follow up and fill out this google form. This helps us improve but also seek additional funding for future projects like this.

Thank you!
Currently we are not accepting requests for toolkits as we are adjusting our materials and finding additional funding to send more out!
