We plan on enacting Advisory Reform to make Advisory more tolerable. If there is something that most of us can agree on, it's that Advisory needs to be reorganized and should not be used to force relationships to be built. Instead, it should foster relationships more efficiently. We want to refocus the purpose of Advisory by having Student-Led Advisories and leadership opportunities, while also being able to leave at the end of SJET in some cases. The purpose is to get Advisory more organized and make it less of a burden for the Student Body and their cherished Community Time. We do not wish to abolish Advisory; we hope to improve it.
We want to give all under-appreciated groups the credit they deserve.
Not only do we want keep the recognition and the hype on our Football team, but also, we want to bring that recognition to all teams, athletic and non-athletic. As a Student Athletic Trainer, Damien Morales is affiliated with all sports at Strake Jesuit and sees all the work that each sport puts in. He believes that they each deserve more credit and more recognition for their hard work. Our VP, Jonathan Makhoul, also in Quiz Bowl, agrees and wants to bring that recognition to all teams, athletic and non-athletic within the community.
We would have a gathering along the breezeway to recognize teams who make it to playoffs or playoff-like events
Also, we would encourage Spirit Dress on those days in honor of that team(s).
Recognize Teams at the end of certain Pep Rallies and Assemblies for each of their accomplishments.
Also offer more promos for those under-appreciated teams and clubs such as the ones listed here.
We already have House Captains to give a voice to each of the houses, but there needs to be a voice for individual classes as well. The reason being is that Underclassmen often get overshadowed, overlooked, or maybe get too shy to share big ideas. Another reason is to give the Upperclassmen leadership opportunities they may have missed out on or to build up on. Everyone has unique and great talents and ideas that we would love to make into a reality. This will also shed some light on potential leaders at Strake who may have missed their opportunity to do be one, and to give them a leadership role in the Student Body.
We plan to bring back Class Presidents or something similar to the StuCo system as well. This will insure more accurate representation for not only the whole student body, but each of the classes from Freshman to Seniors. This is to give the Executive Committee a greater understanding on where the underclassmen and upperclassmen is and wants to be with Daily Student Issues and Competitions. This will give us the best opportunity to serve the Student Body as a whole. This will give us more insight on decision making, taking every idea into consideration, for Student Council Events, Pep Rallies, and House Competitions.
Note: Class Delegates/Presidents would be decided in the beginning of the 2020-2021 school year.
We plan to reorganize Homecoming Week. Homecoming Week happens the school week prior to the Homecoming Dance. We would have a theme each day in which students would be able to dress up with the theme. This is a way to get the Student Body hyped up for 1) the Homecoming Game and 2) the Homecoming Dance.
We will not have any Pep Rallies outdoors like this year based off the negative feedback from the Student Body. We will bring back and also create new and engaging Pep Rallies what will allow more competition, more fun, and more natural relationship bonding to happen.
Pep Rallies We Would Bring Back: (What we did NOT do this past year)
Students vs. Teachers Pep Rally (Would include a School-Wide Kahoot and a Teacher King and Queen)
Strake Jesuit vs. St. Agnes Pep Rally
New Pep Rallies We Would Bring:
More House Competition Pep Rallies (Would include new and inspired competitive events)
Upperclassmen vs. Underclassmen Pep Rally
Seniors/Freshmen vs. Sophomore/Junior Pep Rally
The Finale Pep Rally (End of the Year, Senior Farewell)
And MORE!!!
Just like in previous years, we hope to bring back Field Day that will last all day. There will be a variety of games and competitions indoors and outdoors throughout the day, ending with one big House Competition.
Senior Lunch Line- We plan on getting a Senior Lunch Line for A lunch, maybe for B lunch, but definitely Green/White Order.
Off-Campus Lunches- We plan to bring back Off-Campus lunches when Seniors have 3rd period free and on Green/White Order.
Untucked T-Shirts- We plan to get Seniors the privilege to be able to have their shirts untucked on Spirit Dress days.
Leaving Early or Showing Up Late- When Seniors have 1st period free, they can show up late, or if Seniors have 5th period free, they can leave early. Our Presidential Candidate, Damien Morales, has already gotten the approval from the Head of Security at Strake, so if he wins, we could bring it to the Administration directly.
We plan to bring the Spring Fling SJET Tradition of 'Teacher Impersonations' back to the Student Body. Check out the video to get an idea of how it will work.
