In pursuance of its objectives, KMIC organised a discussion on the first thousand days nutrition of the children of migrant workers in Gujarat on September 13, 2019 at IIM campus. It was attended by the representatives from government, civil society organizations, and academia. The discussion was then documented in the form of video lectures and policy brief.

Dr. Jayanti Ravi, currently serving as Commissioner and Principal Secretary, Health and Family Welfare Department, Government of Gujarat, is a scientist, civil servant, writer, speaker, educator, performing vocalist and thinker. In addition to working at various important positions in the administration, she has also served as director of the National Advisory Council with the Prime Minister's Office.
Dr. Nishchal Bhatt Practising is a child specialist and teenager’s Health Consultant. Apart from 17 years of private Pediatric practice, he also served as President Elect of the Pediatricians association of Gujarat State (Academy Of Pediatrics , Gujarat). He was recognized as "Adolescent Health Ambassador" for India & conducted comprehensive Adolescent Health workshops in more than 50 cities of India.
Dr. Narayan Gaonkar is the Health and Nutrition Specilaist at UNICEF Gujarat and has served at various other state offices of the UNICEF. He leads State RMNCH+A support unit in Gujarat as part of Call to Action response. He holds immense experience in public health emergency response and has played key roles in establishing disease surveillance systems and restoring health and nutrition services following Super Cyclone in Orissa 1999, Gujarat Earthquake 2001, Tsunami in Tamilnadu and Andaman and Nicobar icelands, Floods in Mumbai 2005 and in Bihar 2007 and many other outbreak responses.
Dr. Reetika Khera is an Associate Professor (Economics and Public Systems Group) at the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. She has been a Sulaiman Mutawa Associate Chair Professor at IIT Delhi. She has worked with the G. B. Pant Social Science Institute, Allahabad University and is a visitor at the Centre for Development Economics at the Delhi School of Economics. She has also published several research papers analyzing NREGA, the Public Distribution System (PDS) and Aadhaar that affect India's most vulnerable citizens.
Dr. Alpesh Gandhi is currently serving as the National President of the Federation of Obstetric and Gynaecological Societies of India. He additionally is also a specialist is critical care in obstetric, high risk pregnancy expert and a hospital management expert. He has served as the member of the ICOG Governing Council, chariperson of the practical obstetric committee, FOGSI and the president of Ahmedabad Obstetricians and Gynaecologists' Society. He is also the Chief Editor of a forth coming book on the "Principles of Critical Care in Obstetrics".
Dr. Divya Ravindranath is a post doctoral fellow at Indian Institute of Human Settlements. She has looked at maternal health and child malnutrition in migrant households engaged in construction work in her doctoral research. Her current research work focuses on the intersection of informal labour, gender and urban health. She is particularly interested in studying breastfeeding practices, access to antenatal and postpartum care, occupational health hazards and health inequity among workers undertaking informal work.
Dr. Pavitra Mohan is Director of Aajeevika Bureau’s partner, Basic Health Services, providing high-quality, low-cost health services to the most vulnerable communities. With over 18 years of clinical, research and teaching experience, Pavitra co-founded Basic Health Services in 2013 with Dr Sanjana Mohan. He is a Fellow with the prestigious National Neonatology Forum of India. He is trained as a doctor at Delhi University and holds a Masters in Public Health from the University of North Carolina.
Mr. Jyoti Prakash Brahma holds a Post Graduate degree in Management and Political Science along with a law degree. He has more than 12 years of experience on working with grassroot, state, national and international level NGOs. His core experiences are in the areas of child rights, education of migrant children, policy analysis and evidence based research, and other governance related issues. Presently he is working as Senior Programme Manager of Aide et Action International, South Asia in its migration thematic unit.
