As Term 1 wraps up, it’s time to celebrate an action-packed season of summer sports! From our youngest players learning new skills to our senior students leading their teams with pride, this term was filled with energy, excitement, and unforgettable moments.
For our junior grades (1-3), sport was all about fun, learning, and building confidence. Whether it was cricket, swimming, soccer, or hockey, these young athletes gave it their all! The highlight? Definitely the gala, where they got to splash, race, and show off their skills in a super fun and supportive environment. Their smiles and enthusiasm made it clear—they’re just getting started!
In Grades 4-5, pupils took things up a notch, improving their techniques and competing at a higher level. The cricket teams had some thrilling matches, proving that practice really does make perfect. Meanwhile, swimmers pushed their limits in both training and gala events, striving for personal bests. With teamwork and great sportsmanship shining through, this group made the most of every game, race, and practice.
For our senior pupils in Grades 6-7, things got even more competitive. These athletes brought skill, determination, and leadership to every match and event. The cricket teams played with focus and passion, while the swimming team delivered some incredible performances in the pool. The gala was a huge success, with pupils giving their best in every event. Beyond the competition, senior pupils played an important role in mentoring younger athletes, proving that great teamwork isn’t just about winning—it’s about lifting others up too!
Term 1 has been a fantastic season, and every pupil who participated should be proud of their effort and commitment. A huge thank you to our coaches, teachers, and parents for their support—you make all of this possible!
Now, as we look ahead to Term 2, we can’t wait for even more exciting challenges, new victories, and plenty of unforgettable moments. Well done to everyone for an amazing start to the year—let’s keep the momentum going!

Early Act, led by Head Aluta Dlulane and Deputy Odion Osazuwa, has been making waves in the Gqebera community, with a series of successful events and fundraisers. From the heartwarming talent show at Colleen Glen School, to the fun-filled Rock Your Socks event, Early Act has proven that making a difference starts with just thinking of others.
One of the highlights was the Rock Your Socks event, where pupils wore colourful and fun socks in support of World Down Syndrome Day. The event turned out to be a huge success, with the Early Acters performing an impromptu ad in the aisle, creating a buzz around the event.
The group also took part in the annual pancake celebration for Shrove Tuesday, and even helped Grade 2 learners with their homework, forming strong bonds with the younger children. Cohen Fishburn, a member of Early Act, continues to stay in contact with a Grade 2 learner, expressing the lasting impact of these efforts.
Looking ahead, Early Act has a cake sale planned for next term, so keep your eyes peeled for that. With strong leadership from Aluta and Odion, who have been praised by fellow Interacters, Cohen and Ejime, Early Act continues to inspire learners in grades 5 to 7 to get involved with community outreach and make a difference.
With a strong sense of community and leadership and a 10/10 rating, Early Act is set to continue making an impact, one event at a time.
