Guiding Principles

The mission of the Media Services Center (MSC) is to provide event support, video production, audio production, design solutions, and digital broadcast & distribution, as we strive to develop our own technical capabilities and assist other departments develop theirs.

1. Communicate effectively MSC services, policies and procedures to the Principia community.

2. Provide professional services that are aligned with latest technical advancements.

3. Establish and maintain productive and respectful interactions within our staff and with all members of the Principia community.

4. Utilize resources wisely to conduct an efficient, forward-looking operation and develop our personnel.

Media Services will keep abreast of current audio/video/lighting/broadcasting technologies and their supporting computer programs. We will strive to acquire and maintain equipment that enables us to support Principia events in an effective and professional manner.

Media Services will strive to employ adult and student workers of high moral character who are technically competent and have a genuine interest in working for Principia in the Media Services Department. We will treat all employees with fairness, kindness, and respect. We will strive to work together in harmony and will look for opportunities to provide employment that allows for individual growth and development.

Media Services will run our office in a thoughtful manner. We will respond to requests from community members in a timely manner. We will strive to produce videos and provide duplications of recordings that are the best that can be produced given the current state of our skills, knowledge, and equipment. We will give thoughtful consideration to the needs of the community and will endeavor to improve our capabilities and expand our resources in order to better meet those needs. When a request is presented that is beyond our capabilities or resources, or outside our area of responsibility, we will explain the situation in a clear but kind manner and will offer to do whatever we can that is within our capabilities.

Media Services will work with members of the Principia community to help them plan their events in a thoughtful, timely, analytical manner and then will support their presentations and performances in an efficient, organized, and joyful manner.

Media Services will strive to establish and maintain a good working relationship with members of the Principia Administration, Faculty, Staff, and Student Body -- one based upon mutual respect, effective communication, understanding, and a strong desire to demonstrate Principle.
