MATHS IMPACT -
The impact of our mathematics curriculum is evident in the confidence, competence and curiosity our pupils demonstrate in their learning.
Through our consistent mastery approach using Power Maths, pupils at The Prince of Wales School develop a deep and secure understanding of mathematical concepts. They are able to articulate their thinking with clarity and confidence, use precise mathematical language and apply their knowledge flexibly across a range of problems and real-life contexts.
Our pupils demonstrate:
Fluency in core number facts and mathematical procedures
Resilience and confidence in tackling complex, multi-step problems
High levels of reasoning, including the ability to justify, generalise, and prove using accurate vocabulary
Enjoyment and enthusiasm for maths, consistently expressed through positive pupil voice and high levels of engagement
Progress is closely monitored through formative and summative assessment, allowing teachers to identify gaps and provide timely intervention. Outcomes in mathematics are consistently above national expectations, and progress across all pupil groups is strong.
Our disadvantaged pupils and those with SEND make excellent progress, supported through high-quality adaptive teaching and targeted support.
The strength of our mathematics provision is also reflected in our pupils’ ability to make links across subjects, demonstrating mathematical thinking in Science, Geography, Computing, and Design and Technology.
By the time they leave The Prince of Wales School, our pupils are not only well-prepared for the next stage of their education – they leave with a love of mathematics, equipped with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to thrive in a numerate world.
