Focus week - Digital Art. We have really enjoyed using technology to create pieces of digital art during focus week. We have been inspired by the images in the text 'Here I Am' by Patti Kim and are creating our own version of one of the pages from the book. We have been learning how to use editing skills in the ICT room to change an image, this has included changing the opacity, colour base, size and rotation, hue and shape. We cannot wait to share our final pieces of art based on the photos we took during our local walk around Pudsey with you in our corridor of learning.
ICT - Internet Safety week. We have been looking at how to stay safe online and what happens when we use browsers to search. We were given a scenario of a boy who wanted to buy new running trainers. We evaluated how successful his attempts at searching for the new trainers were online and then advised him how he could edit his searches to get the best result, avoiding unnecessary adverts and focusing on his goal.
DT - Building bridges topic. We have really enjoyed completing our building bridges topic this half term. We spent the week learning about bridges, planning, designing, exploring, making and evaluating the bridges we made.
Geography - We have started to look at our first Geography topic of Year 4 which is North America. We looked at all of the different countries that are in the continent North America and labelled them on a map. We then answered questions using our compass directional skills about where those countries were located within North America.
Art - We have spent some time looking at Nicolas Dixon the Artist of the half term and having a go a recreating one of his art works. We thought about colour and shape during this learning.
RE - In RE we have been looking at 'What makes some texts sacred?' In this lesson we spent time looking at sacred texts that belong to the Buddhist religion. We sorted statements into information of what the texts are and how they are used by members of the Buddhist religion. We then compared this to the knowledge we already have about other religious texts and discussed similarities and differences.
