British Library Workshop
We were lucky enough to be visited by Hermoine from the British Library. We learnt all about the library and read a story calleed the Phoenix of Persia. We listened to persian music as we read the story.
We then thought about character feelings during different parts of the story. In small groups we performed a part of the story, creating our own music to help create mood.
Focus Week - Art
As part of our Literature Focus Week, we have looked at a text called 'The Lost Words.' This focused on words from nature that have been removed from the Oxford Children's dictionary.
We spent the week looking at the words in the book, focusing on the beautiful artwork that matched each word. We selected 10 different plants and animals to create our own artwork for. We used sketching skills and then added watercolour for the background and colour.
Focus Week - oracy
As part of our Focus Week, we wrorte kennings poems linked to a word from the Lost Words text.
We enjoyed sharing these with children from Year 2 and hearing their super acrostic poems!
Maths
In Maths we have been looking at multiplication and division. We used counters to help us understand how to use exchanging to solve trickier division problems.
Homework
Over the Christmas holidays, children were set the task of creating Roman armour linked to our History learning. The children enjoyed sharing what they had made. We saw some impressive helmets, swords and shields!
Zones of regulation
Across the school children have been introduced to the Zones of Regulation. In Year 4, we enjoyed looking at the different colour zones - blue, green, yellow and red. We started to identify different emotions and discuss which zone we may place each emotion in.
