What we are learning:
In English we are exploring books by author Claire Freedman (the author of Aliens Love Underpants). We will be focusing on writing labels, captions, lists and simple sentences.
In Maths we will be focusing on place value (within 20), Addition and Subtraction (within 10) and geometry (shape).
In Phonics we be revisiting levels 1-3 and level 4.
In Geography we will be learning about our local area 'Pudsey' and we will spend time looking at and drawing simple maps.
In Science we will be learning about seasonal changes.
In DT we will be making our own hand puppets.
In PSHE we are exploring the topic 'My Healthy Self: How can we look after our emotions.
In PE we will be learning about fundamental skills.
In Music we are practicing Rhythm and Pulse.
In Religious Education we will be exploring the topic 'How did the world begin?'

In D&T as part of our apple topic, Year 1 got busy baking! We washed, chopped and mixed apples to make delicious apple crumble. This hands-on activity helped us explore what we can do with the apples we collected at year 1s apple harvest and put our learning of recipes into practice.

As part of our outdoor learning, we visited the school orchard to inspect our trees and discover the local flora and fauna. Afterwards, we gathered in our brand-new outdoor classroom to talk about all the brilliant benefits of being outside—and agreed on a few ground rules to keep our learning safe and fun!

We’ve been busy practising our performance skills with the poem Pineapple by Vyanne Samuels! To help us remember every single word, we added actions to each line—all in preparation for our upcoming Poetry Slam competition.
