Monday began with us exploring our school grounds. We looked for minibeasts and other creatures. Children discussed what we can do to help care for minibeasts and their habitats. In the afternoon we found out about what plants need to grow and planted some seeds. We are excited to watch them grow over the next few weeks.
Tuesdays focus was skill building and practical application. Children were challenged to work as teams to build some dens and also build a boat which would fit all of their team in.
Wednesday was all about exploration and discovery. We started the day by going on a sensory walk around the school grounds. We also collected some natural resources that we then used to make some transient art work.
To celebrate VE day we baked some biscuits using an authentic Huntley & Palmers recipe from the 1940's.
Today was a very exciting day in Reception. We all had the chance to hold our chicks!!
As part of our Owlcotes Elements, children in Reception have been taking part in small group trips to Pudsey Park.
This half term we are very excited to be taking part in PE lessons with Brett from Leeds Rhinos. We began by focusing on our ball skills.
We celebrated World Earth Day by getting outdoors and exploring our school grounds. We collected some natural treasure which we then used to make special bracelets!
This week we have been inspired by the story of Monkey Puzzle by Julia Donaldson. We have been writing clues about the different characters in the story. Read our writing and see if you can guess who we are writing about. The characters are: butterfly, frog, bat, elephant, spider and snake!
