British Science Week
We had such a fun week in Year 2 as part of British Science Week. We started the week with a live lesson focusing on materials. We then conducted an investigation where we found ways to make materials more waterproof. We found that PVA glue helped to protect the materials from getting too wet.
We also conducted an investigation in class focusing on how animals have adapted to suit their different environments. We had some visitors from Discover Materials who helped us to investigate how plants have adapted. We conducted different tests including looking at what happens to a cactus when it gets wet!
Bollywood Dancing
As part of the celebration of Holi we were excited to take part in a Bollywood workshop. We learnt a few dances that are usually performed at Holi celebration events.
Writing
We created fact files about Amy Johnson using facts we had learnt in History lessons and through conducting our own research.
We found facts about her early life, her famous flight and the challenges that she faced.
World Book Day
We celebrated World Book Day by taking part in a class book swap. We were so lucky to receive so many donations that we were able to select 2 new books to take home (and even have some spare!)
We enjoyed reading some of these new books to our Year 5 reading buddies and hearing their favourite stories read to us.
We thought about different ways to enjoy reading, focusing on finding the best place possible to read. Mrs Delaney loves reading in the garden when it is sunny. A few of us loved reading in bed. Where is your favourite place to read?
