Despite it's name, the bark of a White Oak tree is light grey with a scaly, flaky exterior. The twigs are reddish grey and have buds that produce acorns which are about 1 inch long, light brown, and have a cup like shape with a scaly, darker top containing a nut inside.
The leaves of a White Oak tree are smooth on both sides when mature, 6 to 9 inches long and 4 inches wide, have 6-10 rounded lobes with one in the middle, surrounded by following lobes on each side, and are bright green with a paler green below.
