The Spinulose Wood Fern is one of the smaller ferns, growing 10 to 60 centimeters long. It is soft, light yellowish green, and grows on a light green to dark brown stem.
The fronds of the Christmas Fern are often 30 to 80 centimeters long, 5 to 12 centimeters wide, dark green, leathery and rounded. They can grow in colonies but usually remain in duos and trios, growing on dark brown to black stems.
The New York Fern is usually 20 to 64 centimeters long and is yellowish green, thin and soft. They grow on light green stems and the individual leaflets are jagged.
The Lady Fern's fronds are about 20 to 90 centimeters long, 5 to 25 centimeters wide, soft and a light green. They grow in larger groups and the individual leaflets are quite jagged.
The Intermediate Wood Fern grows up to 90 centimeters long, around 5 to 20 centimeters long, soft and light yellowish green. The fern as a whole often creates a V shape, has jagged leaflets and is one of the more common ferns.
