About Us
A Brief History
OPPA began over a decade ago as a group that met at the State Capital and held appointments with elected officials to share with them important reasons why the public health of Oklahoma needed a voice at the policy decision-making table. Many of the founding members of OPPA contribute to the leadership by translating lessons learned to a new generation of Bill Watchers. Like many groups in Oklahoma, the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted our organization. Last Year, OPPA made the switch to online meetings and continues to meet monthly and track legislation in committees based on specific substances. OPPA is more than a legislative watchdog. Many of our members provide trainings to alcohol retailers, conduct risk assessments, compliance checks, and provide consumer education courses. 2021-22 OPPA Executive Board
Every year in September, OPPA hosts an Annual Retreat to review Bylaws, conduct strategic planning and hold officer elections. Our board is comprised of content experts and prevention leaders from across Oklahoma who have proven their dedication to positively impacting the public health of Oklahoma through policy change and the implementation of prevention technology and training transfer.
