Biographies

Ke Jie, 9 Dan

Ke Jie was born on 2 August 1997 in Lishui, Zhejiang Province. He received his 1 Dan rank in 2008 and became a 9 Dan Go player in 2015. Ke Jie won the 16th and 18th Agon Tongshan Cup in 2014 and 2016, and won the China-Japan Agon Cup twice. In 2015, he received the 2nd Baily Cup, the 15th Ricoh Cup and the 11th Wefufangkai Cup. From 2015 to 2016, Ke Jie was the winner of the Samsung Cup two years in a row, and was also the champion of the 2nd Mlily Cup in 2016. In the 17th Nongshim Cup, Ke Jie secured a win in the finals, helping the China team win the tournament. In 2016 and 2017, Ke Jie bagged consecutive championships in the China-Japan-Korea New Year Cup. Since September 2015, he has retained his position as the #1 Chinese Go player for 20 months, since September 2015, and was awarded the 2016 Chenyi Cup Go Player of the Year.

Chen Yaoye, 9 Dan

Chen Yaoye was born in Beijing, China on 16 December 1989. He obtained 1 Dan in 2000 and became a 9 Dan player in 2007. He was the individual champion at the 2005 National Go Games, and has held the title of Tianyuan Cup for 8 years, from 2009 to 2016. He is also a five-time winner of the China-Korea Championship,the winner of the CCTV Cup in 2010, the 9th Changqi Cup in 2012, and the 9th Chunlan Cup in 2013. He won the 2013 and 2015 China Mingren Cup and World Mingren Cup respectively, as well as the 3rd Baily Cup in 2016. He was awarded the Chenyi Cup Go Player of the Year in 2013.

Shi Yue, 9 Dan


Shi Yue was born on 11 January in 2001, and hails from Luoyang, Henan Province. He was given a 1 Dan rank in 2003 and a 9 Dan rank in 2013. He was the champion of the 16th Xinren Wang Competition in 2009, the 17th LG Cup in 2013, the 10th Changqi Cup and China-Japan-Korea New Year Cup in 2014. He won the final game for the team of China in the 15th Nongshim Cup and was the winner of the 10th Weifufangkai Cup.

Zhou Ruiyang, 9 Dan


Zhou Ruiyang is from Xi’an Shaanxi Province and was born on 8 March 1991. He gained his 1 Dan in 2002 and reached 9 Dan in 2013. Zhou Ruiyang won the Xinren Wang Competition twice in a row, in 2007 and 2008. He also won the 4th Weifufangkai Cup in 2008, the 1st Baily Cup in 2013, the 13th Ricoh Cup, and he was a winner of the 2013 and 2014 Luoyang Dragon Gate Cup.

Tang Weixing, 9 Dan


Tang Weixing was born on 15 January 1993 in Guiyang, Guizhou Province. He received his 1 Dan rank in 2006 and became 9 Dan in 2013.

He was the champion of the 2013 Samsung Cup, a two-year consecutive winner of the China South-west Go King Competition in 2014 and 2015, and was the world champion in the 2016 Yingshi Cup.

Mi Yuting, 9 Dan

Mi Yuting was born on 9 January 1996 in Xuzhou, Jiangsu Province. He became a 1 Dan player in 2007 and turned 9 Dan in 2013. Min Yuting won the 3rd Ricoh Cup (China New Go Player Games) in 2009 and was the Group A winner of the 2012 National One-on-One Go Games. He was the first champion of the Mlily Cup in 2013. In 2016, Mi Yuting won the 7th China Dragon Star Go Games, defeating the Japan Dragon Star Go Games champion. He also won the 6th Quzhou Lanke Cup and the CCTV Cup. In 2017 he won the Xingrui Go Competition.

Gu Li, 9 Dan

Gu Li was born in Chongqing on 3 February 1983. He was certified as 1 Dan in 1995 and 9 Dan in 2006. He has won a number of championships, including the 2nd Ricoh Cup (China) in 2001, the 8th and 12th Xinren Wang Competition in 2001 and 2005, the National Games of the PRC in 2002 and 2010, the 2nd South-west Go King Competition in 2003, the 5th (2003), 7th (2005), 10th (2008) and 14th (2012) Agon Tongshan Cup (as well as a four-time winner of China-Japan Agon Cup), 6 times consecutive champion of the Tianyuan Cup from 2003 to 2008, the 2004 CCTV Cup. He had 6 consecutive wins in the Mingren Cup from 2004 to 2009, the 2006 and 2009 LG Cup, the 2006 and 2008 NEC Cup (China), 2007 and the 2015 Chunlan Cup, 2008 Fujitsu Cup, the 2nd Quzhou Lanke Cup, 2008 and 2011 Changqi Cup, 2008 and 2014 China Dragon Star Go Games, 2009 Toyota Cup, the 1st BC Credicard World Go Tournament, and 2010 Samsung Cup. He was the Go Player of the Year of Chenyi Cup in 2011.

Lian Xiao, 8 Dan

Lian Xiao is from Dandong, Liaoning Province, and was born on 8 April of 1994. He obtained 1 Dan rank in 2007 and 8 Dan in 2017.

He was the winner of the 4th Ricoh Xinren Cup in 2010, the Agon Tongshan Cup in 2012 (he also won in the China-Japan Agon Cup), and the 14th Ricoh Cup in 2014. He also bagged two consecutive wins in the Mingren Cup in 2015 and 2017, in the 12th Changqi Cup in 2015, and in the 2017 Tianyuan Cup.
