Is my donation tax deductible?

The CRA does not allow donations targetted at specific families to be tax deductible. This is true both for funds that are are gifts directly to the family and for funds that are managed by a sponsorship agreement holder.

You will get a thank-you note and updates on our progress, but not a charitable receipt.

What is a Unitarian and why are they involved?

Unitarians are a non-dogmatic religion dedicated primarily to making the world a better place. Sahar was advised that we had helped many Hazara people (in addition to people of many other ethnicities, religions, from different continents). 

Considering her special status as an unaccompanied minor, some members of our congregation (such as Meena) decided to take her under their wings. Due to our longstanding history with refugee resettlement, the Refugee Team at Vancouver Unitarians is available to give advice until the formal resettlement process begins.
