What's the Review-a-thon?

To celebrate this year's Peer Review Week, PREreview is organizing a Review-a-thon: a global event where newly-formed and existing PREreview Clubs synchronously carry out collaborative reviews of preprints and datasets.

Our goal is to engage 50 clubs in this collective effort. Together, we want to showcase how human, community-driven peer review can help drive change in the research evaluation culture.

Win a prize for your Club

Participating Clubs will be entered into a raffle for a 500 USD fund to support further collaborative review activities, if they meet these conditions:

Host a collaborative review session during Peer Review Week (September 14-18)
Publish at least one PREreview as a Club—co-authored by two or more people—within the following two weeks
Share a photo or short reflection on the experience (optional but encouraged)

About PREreview Clubs

PREreview Clubs are collaborative research reviewing groups around a shared affiliation, disciplinary interest, location, language, or any other common cause. Club members work together to give preprint or dataset authors timely, constructive feedback.

Anyone can request to start a PREreview Club. To do so, please complete this form and our Product team will get back to you soon with the next steps.

Visit their pages, request to join the one that interests you the most by clicking the "Join the Club" button, and get them onboard for the Review-a-thon:

Future of Research Communication and e-Scholarship (FORCE11) Club: Publishes reviews of preprints in metascience, metaresearch, scholarly communication, and related fields. They meet at 5PM UTC, Wednesday of the third full week of the month, in odd numbered months.
Parasitology and Infectious Diseases Club: Interdisciplinary Club interested in parasitology, immunology, microbiology, cellular and molecular biology, vaccinology, pharmacology, and many more. They have a monthly reviewing frequency.
Physical Education Preprint & Review Club: Collaborative training space coordinated by researchers and graduate students in Physical Education at the State University of Maringá (Brazil), and connected to initiatives promoted by the Journal of Physical Education (Maringá, Brazil).
Review & Curate Network Club: Fosters a collaborative and transparent environment for preprint evaluation among the open science community in Africa.
Translate Science Club: Reviews preprints related to multilingual open science in a broad sense. They're currently planning their second collaborative review.
