NJSLA stands for New Jersey Student Learning Assessment, an annual test in English Language Arts/Literacy, Math, and Science. Its purpose is to assess the development of students' achievement in relation to their level of academic standards.Â
Elementary, middle, and high school students take the NJSLA test to assess and understand students' current performance. The assessment results serve as an "educational GPS" pointing the way to what students need to learn to be ready for the next grade level and, by high school graduation in preparation for college and career readiness. It is accessible all over the country and is designed to give schools and teachers a "roadmap" to:
Improve instruction.
Strengthening students' learning and academic skills.
Communicate to parents how their child is progressing academically.
Lead to strong engagement between parents and teachers.
