K-12 Social Emotional Learning Program Adoption Site

Social Emotional Learning (SEL) is the process through which all young people and adults acquire and apply the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to develop healthy identities, manage emotions and achieve personal and collective goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain supportive relationships, and make responsible and caring decisions.

SEL advances educational equity and excellence through authentic school-family-community partnerships to establish learning environments and experiences that feature trusting and collaborative relationships, rigorous and meaningful curriculum and instruction, and ongoing evaluation. SEL can help address various forms of inequity and empower young people and adults to co-create thriving schools and contribute to safe, healthy, and just communities. (CASEL)

The K-12 SEL program adoption process is in year four of a five-year district wide implementation process.  The adoption committee is committed to choosing SEL programs that are aligned with the PPS Graduate Portrait, Racial Equity & Social Justice Lens and Transformative Social Emotional Learning. An Advisory on Instructional Resources (AIR) with diverse representation of race, gender/gender expressions, experience, and positions in the district has overseen the rigorous process of selecting programs that will meet the needs of ALL of our school communities. Student, family, and staff feedback has been elicited throughout the adoption process to ensure the voices of various stakeholders are represented in this important decision.

The three programs selected by the AIR Committee and approved by the PPS School Board in June, 2023 include:
