Sabin Elementary School Counseling Center Mission Statement
Mission: To provide students equitable access to academic, social and emotional success. Counselor, in partnership with teachers, students, parents, community members and administrators, work towards ensuring that every student becomes a life-long learner and respectful citizen of the world. The school counseling program at Sabin Elementary is based on the American School Counseling Association National Model (ASCA) and Portland Public Schools Counseling Framework.
Sabin Elementary School Counseling Center believes students have the right to:
Access a person they trust who will listen to and support them.
Learn in a physically and emotionally safe environment.
Develop the skills needed to achieve academic and personal success to the best of their ability.
Discover and develop their unique skills and talents.
Become empowered to solve their own problems using effective decision making and coping skills.
Improve their peer relationships by developing communication, conflict resolution, and other social skills.
Services are provided through four program components of classroom counseling curriculum, individual planning, responsive services, and support services.
